How to connect to CIFDATA$

CIFDATA$ is a temporary, high-performance storage space for CIF users.

It is designed to facilitate the transfer of imaging data between acquisition workstations, processing/analysis workstations, and your permanent storage location.

Important: CIFDATA$ is temporary storage.
It should not be used for long-term storage or as the only copy of your data.

When should I use CIFDATA$?

Use CIFDATA$ to:

• transfer data from a CIF acquisition workstation;
• access the same dataset from another CIF workstation;
• temporarily store data during image processing or analysis;
• transfer large datasets between acquisition, processing and final storage locations.

A typical workflow is:

Acquisition → CIFDATA$ → Analysis / Processing → Permanent storage

Your permanent storage may be provided by UNIL, CHUV, EPFL or your own institution/group.

Once your data have been transferred to their final storage location, they should be removed from CIFDATA$.

Connecting to CIFDATA$

Each CIF user has a personal folder on CIFDATA$.

Connect using your UNIL credentials and the following address.

Windows

\\nasdcsr.unil.ch\cifdata$\your_login_unil

Login credentials

When Windows or macOS asks for your credentials, use:

AD\your_unil_login

Do not enter only your_unil_login.

For example, if your UNIL username is jdupont, enter:

AD\jdupont
